#16 How Kind is God
From Spiritual Breadcrumbs, by Samuel Froehlich
It comes to mind when I see the godless, the unrighteous, the unbelieving – in a word, the enemies of God – living in better welfare, quite undisturbed, in comparison with the holy, the faithful – the beloved of God – who are plagued, beaten and persecuted in this world: The Lord of Heaven deals with His enemies much more sparingly, more gently, more lovingly and in a kindlier fashion than the prince of this world does with his foes. One can tell by their treatment of enemies which one is the true Lord! But who pays attention to this? Who turns from the raging Satan to the Lord, who is kind even to His enemies? O that all Mankind would perceive this mystery. For although the children of God receive much sorrow and anguish from the devil in this world, yet they are lacking nothing in their fellowship with Christ but have heaven in their hearts, while the godless – who have everything they desire – have hell in their hearts and are servants of the devil.
